Human Proteinpedia enables sharing of human protein data

Abstract: Proteomic technologies, such as yeast twohybrid, mass spectrometry (MS), protein/peptide arrays and fluorescence microscopy, yield multi-dimensional data sets, which are often quite large and either not published or published as supplementary information that is not easily searchable. Without a system in place for standardizing and sharing data, it is not fruitful for the biomedical community to contribute these types of data to centralized repositories. Even more difficult is the annotation and display of per… Show more

“…High expression of Cbp has been seen in follicle-center-derived lymphoma and some diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, where it appears to promote the oncogenic role of Lyn (Tauzin et al, 2008). A human protein atlas for normal and cancer tissues based on antibody proteomics was newly developed (Uhlen et al, 2005;Mathivanan et al, 2008; http://www.proteinatlas. org/).…”

“…Additionally, for SRM data there is the PeptideAtlas SRM Experiment Library (PASSEL) [111], also in the context of the ProteomeXchange consortium. More specific, curated resources for the extraction of organism and organelle-or biofluid-specific proteomes are for example the Human Proteinpedia [112], MAPU [113] and the Yeast Resource Center Public Data Repository [114]. For a comparative review of the major data repositories and their features we refer to several reviews [115,116,106].…”
