“…In order to determine whether the codes under the revealed category represent the relevant category and whether the categories represent the relevant theme, the Kendall's W coefficient of fit was calculated and found as .91 for the categories and .93 for the themes. It has been stated that Kendall's W coefficient should be at least .80 (Howell, 2013;Salkind, 2010;Szymanski & Linkowski, 1993). The codes that cause differences of opinion were discussed by the researchers and placed under a suitable category and theme with a common judgment.…”

“…To calculate the training needs scores of the service providers, the discrepancy model used by Szymanski, Linkowski, Leahy, Diamond, and Thoreson (1993) and Froehlich and Linkowski (2002) was used. For each item in the adapted inventory, the Preparedness rating was subtracted from the Importance rating.…”

“…Training needs by knowledge domain was assessed using the discrepancy formula used by Szymanski et al (1993). The mean discrepancy score for each knowledge domain was computed by summing the discrepancy score of the items in each factor and dividing by the number of items in that factor.…”

“…These research efforts have been used to form the basis for curriculum development and accreditation standards at the preservice level, and as the foundation for the certification process and examination. These studies have also assisted the field in identifying training needs among practicing rehabilitation counselors and have served as the basis for professional identity (Szymanski, Linkowski, Leahy, Diamond, & Thoreson, 1993a). In addition, rehabilitation counseling has been the venue of a group of studies of the relationship of counselor education to client outcome.…”
