Human Teeth Disease Detection Using Refractive Index Based Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor

Abstract: The paper proposes a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor utilizing MXene and a Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) material layer, placed on the Ag metal-based conventional biosensor to detect disease in human teeth. The SPR biosensor works on the principle of attenuated total reflection. The transverse matrix method was utilized for the reflectivity calculation. The thickness of the Ag layer, MXene, and MoS2 were taken as 45, 0.993, and 0.375 nm, respectively. Single-layer MoS2 and two layers of MXene were take… Show more

“…In this figure, todd and teven represent the widths of the odd and even layers, respectively, with thicknesses of 5 µm, 3 µm, and 5 µm for the first, second, and third layers, respectively. In terms of fabrication, references [ 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 ] detail the various studies conducted in relation to the experimental work. For example; Dou et al provide an idea of the fabrication of a titanium metal oxide based one-dimensional photonic structure for a calorimetric sensor that measures volatile organic compounds and relative humidity [ 26 ].…”

“…For example; Dou et al provide an idea of the fabrication of a titanium metal oxide based one-dimensional photonic structure for a calorimetric sensor that measures volatile organic compounds and relative humidity [ 26 ]. Similarly, Shen et al fabricated one-dimensional periodic nanostructures to examine the different chemical components [ 27 ]. One-dimensional photonic crystal was used to create erbium chloride silicate with nanowire [ 28 ].…”

“…Most of them included resin jaw replicas and strain gauge-based systems and were designed as large, complex devices that are not user- or dentist-friendly and do not allow for real-time measurement. Recently, a refractive index-based surface plasmon resonance biosensor was investigated for caries diagnosis [ 17 ]. However, a comprehensive and up-to-date literature search still shows the lack of available evidence.…”
