Hybrid Auditory Based Interaction Framework for Driver Assistance System

Abstract: Problem statement:The rapid development of Driver Assistance System (DAS) provides drivers with radically enhanced information and functionality. The nature of the current DAS requires a complex human-machine interaction which is distracting and may increase the risk of road accidents. The interaction between the driver and DAS should aid the driving process without interfering with safety and ease of vehicle operation. Speech based interaction mechanisms employed are not sufficiently robust to deal with the d… Show more

“…Speech intelligibility perception in humans begins with spectral analysis performed by the Basilar Membrane (BM). Each point on the BM can be considered as a band pass filter having a bandwidth equal to one critical bandwidth or one Bark (Singh, 2010). The bandwidth of several auditory filters were empirically observed and used to formulate the Bark scale.…”

“…Once a vehicle receives the data, it distributes the data to the other vehicles in a geographical location by the Geocast Protocol. The message is communicated to the drivers using some Driver Assistance System (DAS) (Singh, 2010). Maintaining the security of the communication messages is also important and is beyond the scope of this study.…”
