Hybrid Floating Solar Plant Designs: A Review

Abstract: The world’s demand for electricity will double by 2050. Despite its high potential as an eco-friendly technology for generating electricity, solar energy only covers a small percentage of the global demand. One of the challenges is associated with the sustainable use of land resources. Floating PV (FPV) plants on water bodies such as a dam, reservoir, canal, etc. are being increasingly developed worldwide as an alternative choice. In this background, the purpose of this research is to provide an outline of the… Show more

“…The deployment of solar photovoltaics for electricity generation grows rapidly in all countries. Installation of floating solar photovoltaics in water bodies consists of a new and promising technology [1]- [4]. Many floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems have been installed in water reservoirs during the last decade worldwide [3].…”

“…Özcan et al [29] emphasized the operational period of a hydroelectric power plant for hybridization. Solomin et al [30] detailed description and explanation of the many floating solar energy plants, and data about usage patterns and style parameters got. The technical, economic, and environmental contributions of hybrid use are presented.…”
