Hybrid hydrophilic polymer/montmorillonite systems

Abstract: Hybrydowe uk³ady typu polimer hydrofilowy/montmorylonit Streszczenie-Przedstawiono przegl¹d literatury dotycz¹cej hybrydowych uk³adów typu polimer hydrofilowy (kationowy, anionowy lub niejonowy)/montmorylonit (MMT), sposobów ich otrzymywania, metod oceny oraz kierunków zastosowania. Synteza tego typu produktów pozwala na modyfikacjê w³aoeciwooeci u¿ytkowych polimerów. “…Polymer intercalation into layered inorganic compounds provides an opportunity for the preparation of polymer nanocomposites. , Various layered silicates (montmorillonite, hectorite, mica) have been used for this purpose . In some cases composites exhibited unique properties, which were superior to the parameters of pure polymers. Worthy of mention are increased tensile strength, heat resistance, changes of rheology properties, and reduced gas permeability. The intercalation of polymers soluble in water is possible from aqueous colloids or by melt intercalation using unmodified silicates. Composites of less polar, hydrophobic polymers cannot be prepared in the same way, but a chemical modification of layered silicates has to be applied to change the surface properties of the inorganic component. Alkylammonium (AA) cations with long alkyl chains convert hydrophilic layered silicates into materials with organophilic properties, also called “organoclays”. , The miscibility of the components and the properties of the composites depend on the properties of both the organoclay and polymer .…”
