Show more

“…for every oxygene atom of the glycol chain three water molecules are available. The existence of hydrates is well known for polyethyleneglycols [12,13,14]. At higher and lower soap concentrations the temperatures for the phase transition of the mesophases to the isotropic solution decreases.…”

“…The LC phases are identified by comparing the observed textures of the mesophases with textures described in the literature [8,9,12,13,15,16,17]. In the monomer-water system, as mentioned above, only one anisotropic LC phase occurs.…”

“…The transition from the mesophase to the isotropic aqueous solution is observed at certain non-ionic surfactant concentrations and temperatures [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]14,15]. The shape of micelles changes near the border between the areas of the mesophases, the optically isotropic aqueous 0022 solution and the phases separated in the miscibility gap.…”

“…Their structures depend on aggregation numbers n aggr and hydration numbers Z of non-ionic surfactant molecules. The parameter Z characterizes the number of water molecules bound by intermolecular hydrogen bonds with one ether oxygen atom of the poly(ethylene oxide) chain of non-ionic surfactant molecules [2][3][4][5][6][7]11].…”
