Abstract: The Poroshiri ophiolite (Hidaka metamorphic belt, Japan) occurs within a crustal‐scale network of high‐temperature, dextral shear zones that accommodated hundreds of kilometres of displacement due to the opening of the Japan Sea in the Neogene.
