Hydraulic Performance Analysis of Drip Irrigation System Using Pressure Compensated Dripper at Low Operating Pressure

Abstract: Irrigation is the most important component in ensuring that crops can produce optimal yields. The use of drip irrigation can help farmers in providing water to crops in the amount required by the crop. Drip irrigation usually uses an uncompensated dripper and also a pressure compensated dripper. The use of an uncompensated dripper requires precise pressure to ensure a uniform flow for each dripper while the use of a pressure compensated dripper will also provide a uniform flow when operating pressure was used … Show more

“…In increasing agricultural production to achieve national food, the Irrigation network plays an important role [3]. An irrigation network is a unit that includes channels, buildings, and complementary buildings that regulate water, including supply, distribution, collection, use, and disposal of irrigation water [4]. Research related to the performance of irrigation networks in Central Lampung shows That a good irrigation network can provide maximum service distribution water to meet plant water needs.…”

“…One of the most difficult aspects of irrigation technology is to distribute water evenly and efficiently across a large area while utilizing the least amount of energy I AGRICULTURAL IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE ENGINEERING possible (Perea et al, 2013;Ame, 2022). Most vegetables' root systems are found in the top layer of the soil and required frequent irrigation, thus, a drip irrigation system is the most efficient and economical for irrigation for vegetable production (Sharu, 2022). In addition, for increasing importance in wet areas, large amounts of water are lost due to leakage and evaporation, which represents the loss of a valuable resource at a high cost.…”

“…In this system, important equipment includes pressure-compensated drippers, automatic backwash filters, and unmanned systems. Pressure-compensated drippers not only have a long lifespan, but also labyrinth flow channel pressure-compensated irrigators have good irrigation uniformity and good anti-blocking performance [7] . Pressure-compensated drippers have antisiphon characteristics to prevent external debris from being sucked into the dripper.…”
