Aluminum I 2100 Aluminum Hydride: A Reversible Material for Hydrogen Storage. -AlH3 is synthesized electrochemically from a solution of NaAlH 4 (or LiAlH 4 , or KAlH 4 ) in THF (or Et2O). The starting alanate is regenerated by direct hydrogenation of spent aluminium with the byproduct NaH in the presence of a Ti catalyst under hydrogen pressures of about 100 bar. This generation cycle of AlH3 provides a clean, facile route to a high capacity H2 storage material while avoiding unrecoverable thermodynamic costs. -(ZIDAN*, R.; GARCIA-DIAZ, B. L.; FEWOX, C.
