A novel magnetically recoverable catalyst (Fe/MWCNT/TiO 2 -Ag) was prepared in this study by a process that involves few steps. Titanium dioxide doped with silver and iron oxide was deposited on support of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The synthesized catalysts were characterized by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), N 2 adsorption/desorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). Phenol in aqueous solution (50 mg L -1 ) was used as a model compound for evaluation of UV-Vis (filter cut off for λ > 300 nm) photocatalytic activity. The composite catalyst has a high photocatalytic activity, destroying ca. 100% of phenol and removing 85% of total organic carbon in an aqueous solution after 180 min. The Fe/MWCNT/TiO 2 -Ag catalyst remained stable, presenting an 8% decrease in phenol degradation efficiency after ten consecutive photocatalytic cycles.

In this paper, we examined the synergetic eect of transition metals or their oxides as decorative agent with carbon nanotubes on the hydrogen storage capacity. The TiO2, Pd, and PdO shell nanoparticles were used as decorative agent on the surface of carbon nanotubes. The samples were investigated by X-ray diraction, Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The thermal stability was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis testing. The hydrogen storage capacity was measured by a custom-made Sieverts apparatus. The Pd and TiO2 doped carbon nanotube shows the most marked hydrogen storage capacity, 7 times higher than pristin carbon nanotubes after 30 min storage. The results show that the hydrogen storage capacity of the PdO shell carbon nanotube composite is very low in comparison with those of two others and does not represent a signicant dierence with that of carbon nanotubes.

Modified Pt-TiO 2 NPs/decorated carbon nanotubes were synthesized utilizing sonochemical/hydrationdehydration techniques. Pt was loaded on TiO 2 by a photodeposition method keeping in mind the end goal to achieve electron-hole pair separation and promote the surface reaction. The morphological and basic properties of Pt-TiO 2 /fCNTs were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), photoluminescence (PL) and Raman spectroscopy. The selected area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns of Pt-TiO 2 /fCNTs were obtained utilizing TEM-based energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS) analysis. It was found that the TiO 2 nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the fCNTs, and the Pt particles were decorated on the surface of TiO 2 /fCNTs. The photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of the Pt (0.5%) -TiO 2 /fCNTs (0.5%) nanoparticle composites was investigated using a sacrificial agent methanol solution. Pt-loaded TiO 2 demonstrated a hydrogen evolution rate around 20 times that of TiO 2 /fCNTs (0.5%) (fSWCNTs, fMWCNTs). When compared with platinized TiO 2 in methanol, which was utilized as a control material, Pt-TiO 2 /fCNTs demonstrated an almost 2-fold increment in hydrogen generation.
