“…5, the increase in temperature has a negative influence on the solubility of SO 2 in the absorbent. This phenomenon was consistent with the absorption mechanism we presented and the results obtained in most cases [48,49]. Low temperature is not only beneficial to physical absorption but also shifts the protonation reaction equilibrium toward a positive direction.…”

“…Compared with the fresh 1 H NMR spectra of [Li(TDA-1)][SCN], the typical peaks of N–C 1 H 2 –C 2 H 2 on the cation of [Li(TDA-1)][SCN] moved downfield from 2.65 and 3.42 ppm to 3.41 and 3.76 ppm, respectively, suggesting strong N···SO 2 interaction between absorbed SO 2 and tertiary amine in the cation (Figure a). Additionally, after the absorption of SO 2 , typical peaks of N–C 1 H 2 –C 2 H 2 in 13 C NMR moved from 54.2 and 69.2 ppm to 53.1 and 64.6 ppm, respectively, which can be considered as another evidence of the interaction between SO 2 and tertiary amine (Figure b) . Furthermore, the single peak of −CN on the anion [SCN] moved upfield from 129.9 to 124.3 ppm due to the chemical interactions between S site and SO 2 …”

“…On the basis of the absorption experiments, FT-IR and NMR analysis and previous reports, , the plausible mechanism of SO 2 chemical absorption by [Li(TDA-1)][SCN] can be described in Scheme , which exhibits dual-site chemical interactions between SO 2 and two kinds of active sites (N and S) in the chelate-based IL [Li(TDA-1)][SCN].…”

“…In recent 10 years, ILs are widely used in the field of gas treatment 12–15 . The successively developed guanidyl, 15,16 imidazole, 17,18 phenolic, 19 tertiary amine‐functionalized, 16,20 hydroxyl ammonium, 21,22 and ether‐functionalized ILs 23–25 were developed for SO 2 absorption, especially ether‐functionalized and amine‐functionalized ILs demonstrate remarkable SO 2 uptake through multi‐site interaction. However, most functionalized ILs are limited in their application due to factors such as complex synthesis, high cost, high viscosity, and poor reversibility.…”
