“…The previously reported pressure dependence of the superconducting properties 24,25 can be explained by the proximity to the cT phase; namely, the increase and decrease of T c , broadening of the superconducting transition 25 , and reported loss of the Meissner response above P = 2.1 GPa 24 . The cT transition extrapolates to 3 GPa at T = 0.…”

“…Some compounds with ThCr 2 Si 2 structure can support conventional superconductivity while still exhibiting intriguing ground states. One example is the compound LaRu 2 P 2 , in which it had been shown that SC in LaRu 2 P 2 is enhanced under external pressure, but then either vanishes 24 or diminishes for pressures greater than P = 2.1 GPa, at which a cT transition has been predicted by band-structure calculations.…”

“…Experimentally, SC were discovered in phosphides such as BaNi 2 P 2 etc., and all these compounds were characterized by the absence of P-P bonds [6,9,12,44]. Moreover, alternating current susceptibility studies under hydrostatic pressure on single crystalline LaRu 2 P 2 reveal a sudden disappearance of SC above 2.1 GPa, which is likely due to the formation of a covalent P-P bond between neighboring Ru 2 P 2 planes [51]. However, exceptions like SrNi 2 P 2 also exist, which shows SC in the collapsed tetragonal phase under pressure where there is a bond formation between the layers [8].…”
