Hydrothermally Synthesized Co- and Mg-doped CuO Nanostructures: Electrical and Dielectric Properties

Abstract: Herein, Co-and Mg-doped CuO nanostructures have been hydrothermally synthesized. The X-ray diffraction technique has been employed for investigating the phase purity and crystal structure, where formation of a typical single phase monoclinic CuO structure has been confirmed. Sharp and intense diffraction peaks have been observed and indicate to a high degree of crystallinity of the synthesized samples. No indication to any secondary or impurity phases could be observed. Microscopic investigation has been used … Show more

“…Since the first two types of polarization are effective in the infrared and aboveinfrared frequency ranges, the polarization within the studied range of frequencies may originate from the space charge and orientational polarizations [18,21]. The space charge polarization originates due to the existence of highly electrical conductive grains inside the materials separated by the low electrical conductive grain boundaries [15]. According to Koops 'model, the freely moved charge carriers accumulate on the interface between the grain and grain boundary particularly at low frequencies [29].…”

“…Sugarcane is the largest crop production in the world, particularly in African countries [13]. Sugarcane juice (SCJ) (Saccharum officinarum) is a very rich source of reducing agents such as sucrose, fructose, protein substances, and amino acids [14,15]. Noteworthy, a few studies have investigated the potential reducing capability of SCJ in the green synthesis of nanostructures (NCs) of different materials.…”

“…Several metal elements including Fe, Cr, Ni, Na, Al, Co, Mn, Zn, Mg and V have been used as dopants to modify the physical properties of CuO. 13,22,27,30,35–39 Doping with Ni increases the optical absorption, charge carrier concentration, and photostability of CuO nanostructures. 40 Fe-doped CuO has a slightly higher band gap and electrical conductivity than undoped CuO due to the formation of oxygen vacancies.…”
