Abstract:[14C]Proline-labeled protocollagen, the unhydroxylated form of procollagen, was isolated from cartilage cells incubated with alpha, alpha'-dipyridyl. For examination of the initial steps in the hydroxylation of the protein, it was incubated in vitro with prolyl hydroxylase so that an average of 1.3-2.7 prolyl residues per chain was hydroxylated. The partially hydroxylated alpha chain were cleaved with cyanogen bromide, and the fragments were separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis or column chromatogra… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
