Hyperactivation of succinate dehydrogenase in lymphocytes of newborn rats

Abstract: We measured the activity of mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) within cells, in media with near-physiological composition, in lymphocytes immobilized in a blood smear on glass. SDH activity was studied in newborn rats characterized by natural hyperadrenergic status and also in adult animals injected with epinephrine. In most newborns very high activities were recorded, which exceeded the activities in adults at rest 7-8-fold or 3-fold according to the conventional calculation, or more than 30- and 6-f… Show more

“…In this connection, special attention should be paid to such notion like a Watch, or double hour unit that finds a broad application in TCM, especially in the Zhen Jiu therapy. Following the principle to divide a year into twelve months, the Chinese specify 12 Watches within the 24-hours-day cycle [1][2][3][4][5]17].…”

“…According to the Chinese tradition, there are three fundamental potencies which are uninterruptedly interlinked with each other and which always continuously act: Heaven Tian, Human being Ren and the Earth Di. This conceptual notion is not only a feature of cosmology and philosophy, but it is also widely used in TCM practice, including the Zhen Jiu therapy [1][2][3][4][5]17].…”

“…We select animals bred in the vivarium of our Institute within 1-3 days after birth. We do not use for one group animals from only one brood because it is known from physiological data and found by the CBCh method that at least three subgroups can be differentiated in the one brood according to physiological activity [48]. These subgroups correspond to weight distribution.…”

“…The CBCh method clearly detects some fine physiological differences in the state of the organism that were earlier not observed in mitochondria. Among them are some agerelated differences in rats at different stages of ontogenesis, namely, in newborn animals, depending on the time of feeding with mother milk, prior to or immediately after maturation, as well as individual differences of pattern types between healthy humans that are related to the current condition or temperament [48,57]. Both age-dependent changes and differences of temperaments reflect different ratios of ADR/ACH regulation.…”

“…Meant is an integral change in the mitochondrial system in the organism that is adequately demonstrated by the state of lymphocyte dehydrogenases. Known is the existence of the direct relationship between the activity of mitochondrial glycerophosphate dehydrogenase (α-GPDH) and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) [3][4][5]. The relation between the activity both of α-GP-DH and SDH and the immune reaction indicators is determined by the function of these ferments: α-GPDH participates in functioning of the glycerophosphate shunt which governs the glycolysis state, while SDH participates in the Krebs cycle as the key ferment.…”
