Abstract:The use of hyperbaric oxygenation therapy (HBOT) after acute one-sided deafness is a treatment option if conventional methods fail. Five cases have been reported in which an improvement in hearing after HBOT was achieved following unsuccessful conventional therapy. In view of this, and after a careful study of the literature, we suggest that timely treatment with HBOT should be used in every case of unilateral idiopathic deafness.
