Hyperbranched polysiloxane‐based diglycidyl ether of bisphenol a epoxy composite for low k dielectric application

Abstract: A new type of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy-based hybrids has been developed by the incorporation of varying percentages of glycidyl-terminated hyperbranched polysiloxane (HPSiE) into DGEBA resin and are characterized for their physicochemical, thermal, mechanical, and dielectric behaviors by modern analytical techniques. Data resulted from different studies indicate that the incorporation of HPSiE into DGEBA epoxy resin significantly improved the impact strength, thermal, and dielectric proper… Show more

“…ER is one of the significant matrixes to prepare polymer composites with great thermal and dimensional stability, excellent mechanical and adhesion properties , high chemical resistance , as well as proper cost . ERs are utilized as an adhesive, coating, construction material, laminate and matrix to obtain composite material . However, ERs have some shortcomings such as brittleness, low toughness and thermal conductivity, and so on .…”

“…Thus, a reduction in water absorption behaviour is attributed to the presence of the -Si-O-Silinkage in the VRHA. 29 The morphologies of the VRHA-UP nanocomposites were analysed by TEM technique, as shown in Fig. 7.…”

“…A lower value of dielectric constant is one of the most desirable properties for the next generation of electronic devices. 25,26 Table 1 gives the value of dielectric constant of MCEP nanocomposites with varying weight percentages of mullite concentration. The value of dielectric constant of the hybrid composites decreased as the amount of mullite reinforcement was raised.…”
