Hyperelastic Material Parameter Determination and Numerical Study of TPU and PDMS Dampers

Abstract: Dampers provide safety by controlling unwanted motion that is caused due to the conversion of mechanical work into another form of energy (e.g., heat). State-of-the-art materials are elastomers and include thermoplastic elastomers. For the polymer-appropriate replacement of multi-component shock absorbers comprising mounts, rods, hydraulic fluids, pneumatic devices, or electro-magnetic devices, among others, in-depth insights into the mechanical characteristics of damper materials are required. The ultimate ob… Show more

“…Therefore, PDMS has outstanding damping properties and has been investigated for energy-absorption applications. The viscoelastic properties of PDMS are beneficial to the passive vibration isolation in mechanical systems, making PDMS an ideal candidate material for shock-absorption materials [24][25][26]. Zhang et al prepared isotropic magnetorheological elastomers with GO-filled polydimethylsiloxane as a matrix via the solution-blending casting method.…”

“…Therefore, the finite element analysis software ANSYS (ANSYS 2020 R2) is used to simulate the static structure of fingers and tomato to analyze the bending performance. The key parameters of the TPU material are set as follows: Shore hardness = 85 A, density = 1200 kg/m 3 , Young ' s modulus = 11:7 MPa, and Poisson ' s ratio = 0:45 [25]. Create a Static Structural module in ANSYS Workbench, add TPU material properties, and enter the parameters to get the model.…”
