Hypertensive Actions of Long Chain Fatty Acids are Paralleled by Toll‐Like Receptor 4 Upregulation and Nuclear Factor‐kB (NFkB) Activation in the Subfornical Organ
Abstract:Obesity‐induced hypertension is characterized by a low‐grade inflammatory state along with elevations in circulating long‐chain fatty acids (LCFA). LCFA have been associated with the development of hypertension, although the precise mechanisms remain incompletely defined. Importantly, toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) is a transmembrane receptor that is activated by LCFA, resulting in downstream inflammatory cellular processes. The central nervous system (CNS) is critical for the control of blood pressure, with the … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
