Abstract:The goals of this study were to investigate whether Wnt/β-catenin signaling plays a role in hypo-osmolalityrelated degeneration of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells, and if so, to define the mechanism underlying AQP1 in this effect. Human NP cells were cultured under hypo-osmotic (300/350/400 mOsm) and iso-osmotic (450 mOsm) conditions. The cell viability, AQP1, the expression of Wnt/β-catenin signaling, collagen II/I, and MMP3/9 were evaluated. To determine the effects of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling, we used the in… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
