“…Treatment safety is achieved via intra-fraction image guidance, which allows reduction of the CTV-PTV margin. A growing body of literature has shown SBRT to be safe and efficacious, with multiple single institutional studies (22,36,37) and a multi-institutional Phase I study (24) reporting high rates of biochemical control and low rates of grade 3 and higher toxicities with SBRT. Recently, a grouped series of over 1000 patients treated with 4-5 fraction SBRT reported a 5-year biochemical disease-free survival of 93% in all patients and 99% for the low-risk patients with favorable prognosis (38).…”
