“…The description provided here is taken from Petri (1900), Corner and Hawker (1953), and examination of prepared slide material from NY of the type from Borneo and Corner 736 from Singapore (NY slide and fragment SING). The holotype of R. mucosa from Borneo and the Corner collection from Singapore match well, but differ markedly from the Beaton et al (1985) description and Australian collections.…”

“…Smith and Singer (1959) retained Chamonixia as a distinct genus with sporocarps that generally stained blue, and revised the North American species. Corner and Hawker (1953) added two new species from south-east Asia. However, it was Beaton et al (1985) who expanded the genus circumscription to include Australasian taxa with white to ochraceous sporocarps, which may stain blue or greenish on handling, basidia 2-or 4-spored, and spores with 4-6 longitudinal ridges.…”

“…Boedijn (1939) also described the monotypic genus Labyrinthomyces and the only species, L. steenisii Boedijn, from Java. Although they did not collect on Java, Corner and Hawker (1953) described the truffle genus Wakefieldia and 10 additional new truffle species from the nearby Malaysian peninsula. Mueller et al (2007) state that ca.…”

“…Two other species described from Singapore are excluded from Stephanospora. Stephanospora corneri Pegler & Young (¼ Hydnangium virescens Corner & Hawker) and Stephanospora penangensis Corner & Hawker both lack yellow or orange pigments; possess a thick persistent peridium, a gelatinized trama, a distinct basal rhizomorph, and spores that lack a corona (Corner & Hawker 1953;Pegler & Young 1979;Vidal 2004; our observations on Corner 747). Vidal (2004) considered both species to belong to Octaviania as synonyms of Octaviania malaiensis (Corner and Hawker) Pegler and T.W.K.…”
