Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation as Treatment for Obstructive Apnea in a Patient with a Pharyngeal Flap

Abstract: Hypoglossal nerve stimulation can be a successful form of treatment for obstructive sleep apnea in patients with a pharyngeal flap. Although the Inspire device is geared at relieving obstructive sleep apnea due to tongue base obstruction, it can still be highly efficacious in improving AHI and OSA symptoms in the presence of nasopharyngeal narrowing from the pharyngeal flap.
