Abstract:In baby pigs (piglets), poor gluconeogenesis and lactose are the only source of carbohydrate in the first days of life, which make them predisposed to hypoglycemia, in correlation with an improper/inadequate intake of colostrum/milk being responsible for this important pathological status. The early approach to this disease and the sustained specific treatment cand provide a positive and fast recovering of the affected patients.
