Abstract:Bacterial cell persistence, crucial for survival under adverse conditions like antibiotic exposure, is intrinsically linked to stochastic fluctuations in gene expression. Certain genes, while inhibiting growth under normal circumstances, confer tolerance to antibiotics at elevated expression levels.
