Abstract:The
D
‐aminopeptidase DppA, identified in
Bacillus
species, represents the prototype of a separate family of dinuclear zinc proteases. The catalytic domain of the enzyme comprises a Rossmann‐like α/β/α‐fold that coordinates two zinc ions near the C‐terminal edge of a six‐stranded parallel β‐sheet. Despite the lack in sequence and structural homology, the zinc coordination is highly similar to that found in established dinuclear zinc proteases. Furthermore, DppA f… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
