cis-Dichloridobis(dimethoxyphenylphosphino)platinum(II)

Abstract: CommentThe title complex (I) is comparable to similar platinum dichloride complexes containing trimethoxy phosphite;[PtCl 2 (P(OMe) 3 ) 2 ] (Bao et al., 1987) and triphenyl phosphine [PtCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 ] (Fun et al., 2006). The central platinum atom in (I) can be seen to bear a closer resemblance to the triphenyl phosphine complex. These measurement are also similar when compared to the structure of the complex [PtCl 2 (P(OMe)Ph 2 ) 2 ] (Slawin et al., 2007) with the exception of the P-Pt-P bond angle which i… Show more

“…[16] Mean P-O and O-C distances are 1.596(3) and 1.450(5) Å and are normal. [17] The mean Ru-P distance in 3 (2.3714 Å) ( Table 1) is signicantly longer than the average Ru-P bond length of 2.31 Å reported for 14 sterically crowded complexes containing trans-[Ru II (dmpe) 2 ] moieties [4,18] suggesting some steric crowding in 3. [2,4] In solution, the hydrazone groups probably become destabilized due to the dominant steric interactions of the P(OMe) 2 Ph ligands, which explains the formation of the homoleptic complex 3 in prefer-ence to the hydrazone.…”
