Ḥasho: Music Modality and the Economy of Emotional Aesthetics

Abstract: This article is an ethnomusicological investigation of mode and emotion. It addresses connections between musical modality and emotionality by studying a musical phenomenon in the chant of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch.
