In silico prediction of T‐cell and B‐cell epitopes of human papillomavirus type 16 L1 protein

Abstract: Human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV-16) is one of the most important cause of developing cervical cancer. Therefore, effective epitope-based vaccine design for HPV-16 would be of major medical benefit. The aim of our study was to identify B-and T-cell epitopes of HPV-16 L1 protein. In this study, the HPV-16 L1 gene was isolated from HPV recovered from five vaginal swab samples using specific primers and finally sequenced. The ExPASy translate tool (http://web.expasy.org/translate/) was used to convert nucleotide… Show more

“…In the studies conducted by Negahdaripour et al, the HPV16 L2 protein was used to predict the epitope 41 , 42 , while Sarkar et al 43 . and Mahmoudvand et al 44 used L1 protein to predict the epitope. In another study, Namvar et al selected the E5 and E7 proteins from HPV16/18/31/45 as target proteins for epitope prediction 45 .…”

“…Immunoinformatics approach has been widely utilized to identify the most effective epitopes for the development of multi-epitope vaccines against a variety of pathogens. 33 The immunoinformatics approach is particularly beneficial for vaccine design due to its affordability. Several researches have used immunoinformatics method to develop vaccines against organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites in recent years.…”

“…22 E6, E7, and L1 proteins appear to be promising vaccine candidates due to the presence of numerous known neutralising epitopes. 23 It is crucial to understand the vaccine candidate's structural characteristics, such as its secondary structure. Alpha helix and coilcontaining proteins and peptides are significant structural antigens because antibodies can identify them.…”
