Abstract:Recent advances in geochronological techniques now allow the ability to efficiently decipher the timing and duration of geological processes in complex high-grade polymetamorphosed orogenic terranes. This is the case of the Grenville Front Tectonic Zone, which truncates the Superior Craton to the southeast. The zone exposes parautochtonous Archean rocks that underwent mid- to high-pressure granulite facies metamorphism of uncertain age. The metamorphic assemblages have been either interpreted as Archean and as… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
