In situ One‐pot Electrochemical Synthesis of Aluminum Oxide/polyaniline Nanocomposite; Characterization and Its Adsorption Properties towards Some Heavy Metal Ions

Abstract: Aluminum oxide/polyaniline nanocomposite is prepared by a new and one-pot method including in situ electrooxidation of aluminum and electropolymerization of aniline. The product has been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Micrographs (FESEM), and Transmission Electron Micrographs (TEM) techniques. ICP-OES was used for determination of aluminum in the prepared nanocomposite. A porous structure of the prepared composite has been show… Show more

“…Ion exchange and surface complexation were the main mechanisms responsible for the adsorption. In another study, an Al 2 O 3 /PANI nanocomposite was prepared via a new one-pot method including simultaneous exfoliation of aluminum nanofibers and electropolymerization of aniline [44]; the nanocomposite displayed a nanofibrous, nanoporous structure with pore diameter in the range of 70-100 nm. The adsorption performance of the nanocomposite was in the following order-Cu 2+ , Pb 2+ > Zn 2+ > Cd 2+ > Ni 2+ , Co 2+ -with significant selectivity toward Cu(II) and Pb(II).…”

“…For example, the discharge of mercury ions not only pollutes water and soil but also has serious impacts on aquatic organisms and terrestrial ecosystems, disrupting ecological balance and threatening biodiversity [7]. Hg(II) can interfere with plant development, causing damage to cell division, fertilization, and embryonic development [8].…”
