In vitrobiological activity of secondary metabolites fromSeseli rigidumWaldst. et Kit. (Apiaceae)

Abstract: The antioxidant, antimicrobial activity, total phenolic content and flavonoid concentration of Seseli rigidum Waldst. et Kit. were evaluated. Five different extracts of the aboveground plant parts were obtained by extraction with distilled water, methanol, acetone, ethyl acetate and petroleum ether. Total phenols were determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu's reagent, with the highest values obtained in the acetone extract (102.13 mg GAE/g). The concentration of flavonoids, determined by using a spectrophotometri… Show more

“…Et Kit. (aqueous, acetone, ethyl acetate, methanol and petroleum ether) were evaluated, whereby the acetone extract was found to have the highest TPC and TFC (102.13 mg GAE/g and 291.58 mg RE/g, respectively) [28]. The different levels of bioactive contents could be explained by geographical and climatic factors (altitude, rainfall, etc.)…”

“…In the other study, the antioxidant activity of Seseli rigidum was also evaluated on five extracts in different polarity (water, methanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, and petroleum ether). The antioxidant effect of the aerial parts of the species was determined in vitro using DPPH reagent, and the greatest antioxidant activity was expressed in water extract (46.15 µg/mL) (Jakovljević et al, 2015). Also, some of the compounds isolated from the methanolic extracts (80%) of Seseli diffusum have been found to have a strong antioxidant effect (Abbaskhan et al, 2012).…”
