LMO1 gene polymorphisms contribute to decreased neuroblastoma susceptibility in a Southern Chinese population

Abstract: Neuroblastoma is one of the most commonly diagnosed extracranial solid tumors in infancy; however, the etiology of neuroblastoma remains largely unknown. Previous genome-wide association study (GWAS) indicated that several common genetic variations (rs110419 A > G, rs4758051 G > A, rs10840002 A > G and rs204938 A > G) in the LIM domain only 1 (LMO1) gene were associated with neuroblastoma susceptibility. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the four GWAS-identified LMO1 gene polymorphi… Show more

“…The recruitment procedure and criteria for all subjects were described previously. [44][45][46] In brief, we identified 275 histologically confirmed neuroblastoma cases among Guangdong residents from the Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center between February 2010 and March 2017. During the same period, 531 age-matched, sex-matched, and ethnicity-matched control subjects also were collected from the same hospital.…”

“…A total of 256 newly diagnosed and histopathologically confirmed neuroblastoma cases were recruited from the Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center between February 2010 and November 2015 [3335]. During the same period, 531 healthy children were randomly selected as the age- and gender-matched controls after receiving routine physical examination [3537].…”

“…In addition, the rs2168101 and rs3750952 polymorphisms were markedly associated with decreased NB susceptibility in children from North and South China. 29 A significant association between the rs204926 variant and NB susceptibility has been reported, 32 and rs4758051 and rs10840002 polymorphisms were associated with decreased NB. 29 A significant association between the rs204926 variant and NB susceptibility has been reported, 32 and rs4758051 and rs10840002 polymorphisms were associated with decreased NB.…”
