Methodology Matters; Even More

Abstract

This editorial essay reflects on the importance of a section like Methodology Matters and its first two years. It also introduces the six articles in this issue of the European Management Review (EMR) that follow this essay and have progressed successfully through the review process for publication and it suggests ways in which the debates that each of those articles have started may be extended. This introduction also justifies other additions to the agenda that appeared in the original call for papers for submissions to this section of EMR.

How can biases affect entrepreneurial decision making? toward a behavioral approach to unicorns

In this regard, we are conscious that, from a strictly methodological point of view, from the beginning, our attempt is designed as a conceptual start, hopefully soliciting further discussion and specific empirical analyses (Lee, 2020). Specifically, we are aware that, in the future, qualitative analyses based on inductive theory building (Pizzi et al, 2021), and on in-depth interviews with the key figures in a case (Cassell & Bishop, 2019), may also help deepen the key cognitive issues emerging from our framework.…”

Reaffirming opportunities for pluralism in management scholarship

Integrating quantitative and qualitative approaches in corporate governance research

“…Corporate governance research has become increasingly interdisciplinary compared to the dominance of economics approaches at its early development stage, but there is still room for improvement in both the theoretical perspectives and the methods adopted in empirical studies (Filatotchev and Wright, 2017).
