“…Moreover, a recent study also showed that Niazimicin, one of MO’s active components, has a neuroprotective effect via decreasing malondialdehyde, cholinesterase, nitric oxide, Aβ, caspase-3, and inducible nitric oxide synthase enzymes [ 27 ]. Other components of MO such as ferulic acid, quercetin, and linalool have been demonstrated to exert neuroprotective effects [ 130 , 131 , 132 ].…”

Now, natural products from plants and/or animals are vigorously researched into as potential therapeutics for NDDs, as current drugs have so far not been very effective in treating such diseases [ 5 , 8 , 231 , 232 ]. A recent review has pointed out the role and effectiveness of plant-based medicines due to their phytochemical constituents [ 231 ].…”

“…Quercetin and kaempferol derivatives are the main polyphenols in Moringa oleifera leaves. Many studies have reported that these two kinds of compounds have neuroprotective effects [89,90]. What is worth considering is whether these two kinds of compounds play a major role in the neuroprotective effect of polyphenols in Moringa oleifera leaves.…”
