Abstract:N,N-Dimethylformamide-stabilized Ru nanoparticles (NPs) provide a highly efficient catalyst for the Guerbet reaction of primary alcohols under solvent-free conditions and without the use of external ligands.
“…The catalytic activities of the synthesized NPs in alkylations of amides were higher than those previously reported for NPs prepared by using DMF. 13 The synthesized solutions emitted light when irradiated by black light and showed fluorescent properties.…”

“…When Ru NPs (DMF) were used, the yield of the desired product was lower than when Ru NPs (DMAc) were used (entry 4). 13 The catalytic activity of Ru NPs (DMF) is relatively low due to the strong carbonyl coordination on the Ru metal center at approximately 1950 cm À1 in the FT-IR spectrum (Fig. S6, ESI †).…”

“…S6, ESI †). 13 This reaction proceeded in the presence of both a base and a catalyst (entries 5 and 6). Two equivalents of base were required, and the yield decreased significantly when the amount was halved (entry 7).…”
α-Alkylation reactions between amides and alcohols, with dimethylacetamide-stabilized Ru nanoparticles (NPs) as a catalyst, were investigated. The reaction proceeded with low catalyst loadings compared to metal complexes. Characterizations of the...

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
