Our HPLC-DAD data indicates that piperamide alkaloids are the predominant compounds in P. guineense hexane, methanol, ethanol and chloroform extracts (Figure 1) and these compounds are suggested to be responsible for the antibacterial effects we have observed for this plant in agreement with other authors [7,34].
