“…Although Colombian paratropidid species richness is the highest found in a country (WSC 2018), several undescribed species are expected to be found in the future, considering the enormous and unexplored ecological diversity of mygalomorph spiders in this region (Perafán 2017, Perafán and Valencia-Cuéllar 2018), coupled with the evidence of numerous specimens not yet studied.…”

“…The genus Cymbiapophysa Gabriel & Sherwood, 2020 is diagnosed on the combined presence of a prolateral ridge, embolic ridge and ventral medial depression on the male palpal bulb, presence of a distal-retrolateral apophysis on the cymbium, and female spermathecae with short, squat receptacles situated above rectangular guard plates (Gabriel & Sherwood 2020: 304; Sherwood et al 2021: 839). Hitherto, the genus has been recognised to contain four species (World Spider Catalog 2023): Cymbiapophysa magna Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas, 2021, C. marimbai (Perafán & Valencia-Cuéllar, 2018), C. velox (Pocock, 1903) (type species), and C. yimana Gabriel & Sherwood, 2020. The type species is endemic to Ecuador, C. magna and C. marimbai are endemic to Colombia, and the type locality of C. yimana is not precisely known, being either Ecuador or Peru (see Gabriel & Sherwood 2020).…”
