2016 has a special anniversary coming up for physica status solidi (pss): Its most‐ever‐cited article “Optical Properties and Electronic Structure of Amorphous Germanium” by J. Tauc, R. Grigorovici, and A. Vancu (then Prague and Bucharest) was published half a century ago [1].
