Respirology: To unpathed waters and undreamed shoresTaking over the editorship of Respirology is a challenge, a privilege and a duty. This issue of the journal marks my new role as Editor-in-Chief, along with a series of new ideas and innovative changes aimed to ensure the continual success of Respirology and to accelerate its charge towards new heights.There is no better time in the 14-year history of Respirology to take over the editorial office than the present. Thanks to the hard work of Professor Thompson, whose tireless efforts in the past 7 years oversaw a phenomenal development of Respirology, a solid platform exists for the journal to build on. The success is reflected by the significant rise in manuscript submissions, impact factor, readership, electronic downloads (now >100 000 per annum) and, above all, the quality and international stature of Respirology.
