RETRACTED: MiR‐93 blocks cell cycle progression and promotes apoptosis in uterine leiomyoma cells by targeting CCND1

Abstract: Uterine leiomyoma (UL) is the most common type of benign tumor in the women's reproductive system. A number of genes has been found to play an important role in the initiation and progression of UL, including miRNAs. In this study, our results exhibited that miR‐93, a member of mir‐106b‐25 cluster, significantly reduced the cell viability, promoted cell cycle arrest, caused apoptosis, and inhibited migration in UL cells (p < .01). Moreover, our results have provided experimental evidence that miR‐93 regulated … Show more

“…Even though, mRNA expression by qPCR or Western blot only showed an increase in F compared to M but not in MF vs. M or F vs. MF, targeting CCND1 in early disease may offer a useful avenue for therapeutic treatments. Indeed, it has been recently found that microRNA 93 (miR-93) blocks cell cycle progression and promotes apoptosis in uterine fibroid cells by targeting CCND1 mRNA [ 36 ].…”

“…139 Uterine leiomyomas frequently occur in reproductive-age women. 77,122 Their prevalence is about 20% to 40%, 122 which increased in older women. 77,122,123 According to the location, they are classified as submucosal, intramural and subserosal leiomyomas.…”

“…Of note, one target gene can be regulated by multiple miRNAs, suggesting that altered expression of the miR-17 family by physical activity eventually affects the expression of PTEN. Other studies observed that miR-106b-5p and miR-93-5p were negatively associated with CCND1 [55], miR-150-5p inhibited tumorigenesis by targeting VEGF [56], and miR-92a-3p directly targeted SP1, a transcription factor of various oncogenes like Ras, Src, and Raf [57]. As one miRNA can affect multiple target genes, miRNA profiles altered by exercise regulate a broad spectrum of genes and key signaling pathways in tumorigenesis, including pathways in cancer and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.…”
