S-Phenyl 4-methoxybenzothioate

Abstract: Key indicators: single-crystal X-ray study; T = 296 K; mean (C-C) = 0.007 Å; R factor = 0.056; wR factor = 0.199; data-to-parameter ratio = 13.7.In the molecule of the title thioester, C 14 H 12 O 2 S, the dihedral angle between the phenyl and benzene rings is 71.8 (3) . The methoxy group is essentially coplanar with the benezene ring to which it is bonded, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0065 (5) Å for the non-H atoms involved. In the crystal, weak C-HÁ Á Á interactions are present. Related literature

“…Following hypothesis has been considered while designing of outline derivatives. Methaqualone ( I ) is a drug bearing quinazolin‐4(3 H )‐one motif found as “master key” in anticonvulsant therapy , and its 6,7‐dimethoxy analog ( II ) proved to possess manifest anticonvulsant potential against both electroshock and chemically induced seizure tests . Piriqualone ( III ) is a candidate with quinazolin‐4(3 H )‐one scaffold known for its significant anticonvulsant properties .…”
