Talaromyces minioluteus: New Postharvest Fungal Pathogen in Serbia

Abstract: Talaromyces minioluteus is one of the important species of genus Talaromyces, which has cosmopolitan distribution and is encountered on a wide range of different habitats. This species has not been considered as an important plant pathogen, even though it has been isolated from various plant hosts. Fruits and vegetables with Penicillium-like mold symptoms were collected from 2015 to 2017 from markets in Serbia. Isolates originating from quince, tomato, and orange fruits, onion bulbs, and potato tubers were ide… Show more

“…phuphaphetensis and T. satunensis from other species in the section. Although the RPB2 gene is formally accepted as a potential molecular locus for identifying Talaromyces species, it is often difficult to amplify the targeted DNA region [ 23 , 24 , 25 ]. Unfortunately, this study did not obtain RPB2 sequence data from T .…”

“…The Cladiosporium genera is a post-harvest pathogen and is known to cause core browning and moldy core in apples [51]. However, antagonistic Cladosporium isolates were used as biocontrol agents to control apple scab caused by Venturia inaequalis in orchards [52]. Furthermore, P. expansum was not part of the most abundant taxa in the orchard, even though it was significantly found by qPCR on the surface of the apples.…”
