Thaxterogaster carneus (Cortinariaceae), a new species of Thaxterogaster sect. Vibratiles, from coniferous forests of Kashmir Himalaya, India

Abstract: A new myxacoid species of Thaxterogaster sect. Vibratiles, Thaxterogaster carneus is described from the coniferous forests of Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary in Kashmir Himalaya, India, based on morphological observations and molecular data of the nrDNA ITS and LSU regions. This species is morphologically distinguished from other species in section Vibratiles by the orange-brown color of the pileus, the small spore size (X′ = 6.5 × 4 µm) with amygdaloid shape and verrucose ornamentation. The ITS sequence differed f… Show more

“…It is a valuable tool for researchers and physicians to record and obtain data of individuals with DSD to solve clinical and translational research questions (5, 6). As of June 2023, this registry included data of 7749 individuals with DSD originating from 135 centers of 45 countries world-wide (7). It has formed the basis of over 65 research projects addressing various topics of DSD such as mechanisms of disease of specific subtypes of DSD, genetic and diagnostic approaches, treatment options, long-term outcomes, quality of care and psychosocial topics.…”
