trans-Dichlorobis(triphenylphosphine-P)platinum(II)

Abstract: Two different crystals (A and B) were used to structurally characterize trans‐[PtCl2(PPh3)2] and to study random and systematic errors in derived parameters. The compound is isomorphous with trans‐[PdCl2(PPh3)2] and with one of the polymorphs of trans‐[PtMeCl(PPh3)2] reported previously. Half‐normal probability plot analyses based on A and B show realistic s.u.'s and negligible systematic errors. R.m.s. calculations give very good agreement between A and B, 0.0088 Å. Important geometrical parameters are Pt—P =… Show more

“…The platinum atoms in complex 4 adopted essentially a trans-square planar arrangement with PePteC angles in the range of 84.7(5) and 95.0(5) . Such slight distortion around the coordination plane was likely due to the coordination constraints imposed by the bulky triphenylphosphine ligands [93,94] (6) and 2.298(4) Å, which were slightly shorter than those reported previously [83,95]. The bond angles about the alkynyl ligand and the platinum metal centres were in the range of 168.8(15)e170.9 (18) , which were close to the ideal sp-hybridized carbon bond angle and further confirmed the s-bonded nature of the alkynyl groups in the complex.…”

“…The Pt-P bond lengths in trans-PtCl 2 (Ph 2 P n C 10 F 21 ) 2 are 2.3027(6) and 2.3039(6) Å. These are shorter than the corresponding bond lengths in trans-PtCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 (2.319(3) and 2.316(3) Å) [21]. The P-CF 2 bond lengths in trans-PtCl 2 (Ph 2 P n C 10 F 21 ) 2 are 1.913(3) and 1.909(3).…”

“…The structure of a triclinic modification of transdichloridobis(triphenylphosphine) platinum was reported in 1999 [27]. The orthorhombic modification that we obtained crystallizes with two molecules of CH 2 Cl 2 per formula unit, in space group Pcab.…”
