Trichinella spiralis: genome database searches for the presence and immunolocalization of protein disulphide isomerase family members

Abstract: The formation of nurse cells in host muscle cells during Trichinella spiralis infection is a key step in the infective mechanism. Collagen trimerization is set up via disulphide bond formation, catalysed by protein disulphide isomerase (PDI). In T. spiralis, some PDI family members have been identified but no localization is described and no antibodies specific for T. spiralis PDIs are available. In this work, computational approaches were used to search for non-described PDIs in the T. spiralis genome databas… Show more

“…PDI is associated with the formation of nurse cells in host muscle cells infected with T . spiralis , thus may be important for the long-term parasitism of parasites [ 32 ]. In addition, PDI, as a DNA vaccine, can induce Th1 and Th17 dependent immune responses, and has a significant preventive effect against Leishmania donovani infection [ 33 ].…”

“…In the "Biological process" category, we found that proteins were significant enriched in protein deglutathionylation, including protein disulphide isomerase (PDI). “…To facilitate folding and ensure quality of the produced protein, many factors including chaperones, folding factors, and enzymes, such as luminal binding protein (BiP), calnexin (CNX), calreticulin (CRT), and protein disulfide isomerase (PDI), are employed during ER stress (Siffroi-Fernandez et al., 2002; Freitas et al., 2016). The gene expressions of these factors, in many cases, also serve as molecular markers of the elicitation of UPR (Denecke et al., 1995; Klein et al., 2006).…”
