Group II singly-enveloped nucleopolyhedroviruses from species of the genus Helicoverpa (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) were originally classified into two species; Old World H. armigera single nucleopolyhedrovirus (HaSNPV), isolated from H. armigera (Hübner) and New World H. zea single nucleopolyhedrovirus (HzSNPV) isolated from H. zea (Boddie) [3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13].
