Identification and Expression Analysis of Zebrafish (Danio rerio) E-Selectin during Embryonic Development

Abstract: Abstract:In this study, we cloned the full-length cDNA of E-selectin of zebrafish (Danio rerio), analyzed its expression pattern and preliminarily explored its biological function. Zebrafish E-selectin cDNA is 3146 bp and encodes a putative 871 amino acid protein. All structural domains involved in E-selectin function are conserved in the putative protein. Whole-mount in situ hybridization of zebrafish at 24 and 48 h post-fertilization (hpf) revealed E-selectin expression mainly in vascular/endothelial progeni… Show more

“…to mammalian E-selectins (Sun et al, 2015). In the present study, E-selectine gene expressed in a dose-dependent manner in inosine supplemented groups in contrast to the uracil supplemented group that decreased with the higher doses of the dietary supplementation and compared to the control.…”

“…It plays an important role in inflammation as it recognizes and binds to sialylated carbohydrates present on the surface proteins of leukocytes (Jubeli et al, 2012). In fish, the E‐selectin gene is involved in embryonic development and is important for haematopoiesis, and therefore, it has a biological role in fish similar to mammalian E‐selectins (Sun et al, 2015). In the present study, E‐selectine gene expressed in a dose‐dependent manner in inosine supplemented groups in contrast to the uracil supplemented group that decreased with the higher doses of the dietary supplementation and compared to the control.…”

“…Another important question that could be solved using this tool is the potential contribution of hemodynamics to intravascular arrest of immune or CTCs. Probing the shear stress in very close proximity to the vessel wall could help in understanding whether rolling of immune or tumor cells, usually attributed to selectin adhesion ( Brunk and Hammer, 1997 ; Lawrence et al , 1997 ; Sun et al , 2015 ), can be tuned by hemodynamics. During their journey in the blood circulation, CTCs are subjected to shear forces and collisions with host cells.…”
