Abstract: Two key characteristics of senescent cells are nucleolar fusion and secretion of a plethora of pro-inflammatory cytokines called the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). The SASP is dependent on NF-κB but the initial trigger, and links with nucleoli, are unclear.
